Così fan tutte at The Royal Opera House
Emerging Pictures’ celebrated Opera in Cinema series adds several new gems to its crown: LIVE operas and ballets from London’s Royal Opera House and the new Shakespeare in Cinema series presents Shakespeare plays from the Globe Theatre, courtesy of Opus Arte.
Emerging Pictures’ network of digital cinemas will broadcast operas and ballets live from Covent Garden starting on September 10th, with the opening night performance of Mozart’s Così fan tutte. This contemporary and slyly comedic production by Jonathan Miller (first mounted in 1995) has become an audience favorite in London. The Opera in Cinema LIVE series will now make it a favorite around the world. Plays from the historic Globe, called “Not just theatre but the capital at its very best” by the Sunday Telegraph, include Love’s Labour’s Lost, As You Like It, and Romeo and Juliet (just in time for Valentine’s Day).
The Opera in Cinema series, which already broadcasts live operas from Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, has been praised by The New York Times as “[an] exciting means for enjoying opera.” With surround sound and crystal-clear High Definition, the Royal Opera House’s world-class singers and the Globe Theatre’s landmark productions will now be enjoyed up close, on the big screen.

I have to agree with the previous posts. The kind of people who go to your shows have lots of tickets to operas etc., and we need to know your schedule long in advance in order to fit your shows in. You have such great programs that it is a pity to miss them, but you need to make a clear master schedule available.

Love the opera in cinema but we need one in Atlanta. The Met opera in cinema is a great success here and many times sells out. Often open the second screen and it is on in 5 Atlanta theaters. Also it would help if a little advertising was included as no one knows about it but a few of us die hard fans. Thanks for your programs..Cecil Pharr
