Rendez-Vous Near You… Part Deux!

Next week the 18th edition of Rendez-Vous with French Cinema, the Film Society of Lincoln Center and Unifrance Films’ celebrated annual showcase of the best in contemporary French film, hits screens at The Film Society, the IFC Center and BAMcinématek in New York City… AND ONCE AGAIN AT SELECT EMERGING CINEMAS!!!

This marks the second year in a row that this series will be made available nationally by Emerging Pictures throughout the month of March. A selection of nine films from the program are available to co-premiere at Emerging affiliated arthouses and theatres spaces, some accompanied with live/interactive Q&As to be webcasted from Lincoln Center and IFC Center. To check out the nine titles that make up this year’s lineup go to our series page.

At last count around 30 cinemas across the United States — from Miami, San Francisco and Phoenix to Port Townsend, Washington and St. Johnsbury, Vermont — were set to host this extension of Rendez-Vous with French Cinema that we fondly call Rendez-Vous Near You.

French cinema is as varied and vital as ever in 2013, and this year’s edition of Rendez-Vous covers the widest possible spectrum. This ranges includes new works from uncompromising auterus like Damien Odoul and master filmmakers Patrice Leconte and the late Claude Miller, as well as films featuring French stars like Audrey Tatou, Roman Duris and Charlotte Gainsbourg (pictured below).

On Sunday, March 3rd we’ll be webcasting a live post-screening Q&A with Audrey Tautou for the film Therese Desqueyroux, along with Annie Miller, wife and producing partner of the late director Claude Miller. On Tuesday, March 5th for the premiere of Augustine we’ll have director Alice Winocour beaming into participating theatres. And on Sunday, March 10th we conclude our series of Q&As with Gilles Legrand, director of You Will Be My Son. Check to see if your local Emerging screen will be tied in to those events.

Francophiles and cinephiles unite!
