| The bull riders of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders,
Inc.) are modern-day gladiators competing in the most dangerous sport on
earth. Directed by Academy AwardÒ-nominated filmmaker, Josh Aronson,
BULLRIDER takes you deep into this remarkable world as it tells the
story of three top bull riders vying for the 2004 World Championship and
a million dollar prize.
Two-time World Champion, superstar Adriano Moraes,
holds a wide lead throughout the entire season, but suffers a torn bicep
on his riding arm at a crucial moment in the competition. Despite
injuries, broken bones, and constant pain, veteran Justin McBride—whose
grandfather was killed riding a bull—and 21-year-old upstart Mike Lee,
fight their way back to a neck-and-neck finish and a poignant end to the
World Finals in Las Vegas.
Venturing beyond the arenas to show the cowboys with
their families, congregations, physical therapists, and even undergoing
surgery, BULLRIDER asks audiences to consider what it takes to remain
atop a bucking, spinning, high-kicking bull for eight long seconds.
A film that can do for bull riding what Pumping Iron
did for bodybuilding, BULLRIDER is a story of human endurance,
sacrifice, and achievement. It is also a story of America today, and an
examination of the classic icon of the American cowboy a generation
removed from the warm, fuzzy myths of the American West.
BULLRIDER will be distributed by Emerging Pictures in
Albuquerque, New Mexico and Denver, Colorado in April 2006, with other
markets to follow throughout the spring and summer. |
