The late Ruth Brown, among
the most influential of early R&B artists,
was intended to be in the original cast of "Honeydripper."
Her pre-record sessions for the film were
videotaped in Los Angeles in August of 2006,
only months before she fell seriously ill
and eventually passed away. The video below
was edited by John Sayles for Ruth's
memorial service. It stands as her last
performance.
