Synopsis:

"Love, Marriage and Marilyn Monroe" is the story of a triangle between a girl, her mother and a woman of the world.  Set in upstate NY, during 1962, the summer that Marilyn Monroe died, Lilly Mencken, an innocent, newly rebellious girl of 12, is facing her last summer as a child.  When May Bliss, a Marilyn Monroe figure, joins the community and threatens the norm, Lilly finds her mother, Dottie, coming up short against May's glamour and non-conformity.  But when May's behavior forces Lilly to confront the complexities of the adult world, Lilly learns about the ambiguous and complicated ways of love and marriage and comes to see the adults around her in a new and powerful light.

STEPHEN TOBOLOWSKY - DIRECTOR

As an actor, Stephen Tobolowsky has appeared in over 100 films including Groundhog Day; Mississippi Burning; Freaky Friday; Thelma & Louise; and Memento, as well as in numerous television series and on Broadway (Tony nominee for “Morning’s at Seven.”) His directing credits include the New York Premieres of “The Miss  Firecracker Contest” and “The Lucky Spot”; the world premiere of “The Debutante Ball” and productions at L.A.’s Theatre 40 including Blue Silence; The Secret Rapture; What Every Woman Knows; Our Town; Heartbreak House; and Japanese Death Poem. Writing credits include: “True Stories” (co-writer with David Byrne;) Samba (co-writer for Bob Rafelson;) Two Idiots in Hollywood (which he also directed, for New World Pictures;) and “Rules of the Road” (for HBO and Channel 4 BBC.) He is also the subject of the feature documentary film, “Stephen Tobolowsky’s Birthday Party” (Winner Best Documentary at the HD Festival in London and Los Angeles.)

SUSAN BASKIN – WRITER/PRODUCER

Susan wrote the Academy Award winning film, “Violet.” She has written extensively for television and features. Among her credits are the television movies, “The Accident,” winner of the Prism Award, “The Man Next Door,” “Labor of Love,” and “Born Too Soon.” She also wrote for the series, “Remington Steele,” and “Dynasty,” among others. In addition to screenwriting, Susan has written essays and articles for The Los Angeles Times Magazine.

ELIZABETH & JEFFERY PASSERO - PRODUCERS

Originally actors raised on New Yorker theatre, Liz and Jeff Passero have worked as casting directors, talent agents, stage directors, acting teachers, as well as being very involved in New York’s cabaret scene in the 1980’s. Jeff began his casting career at the The Roundabout Theatre in N.Y., where he cast several shows including, “Look Back In Anger” with Malcolm McDowell and “The Bloodknot” with Danny Glover. Since moving to L.A., the Passero’s have cast over 50 feature films, including “Sonny” (2003) directed by Nicolas Cage and starring James Franco, Brenda Blethyn, Mena Suvari & Harry Dean Stanton; Michael Pressman’s “Frankie and Johnny Are Married” in which they also appeared; “The Ballad of Little Jo” with Suzy Amis & Sir Ian McKellen; “Poison Ivy” with Drew Barrymore; “Last Exit to Brooklyn” with Jennifer Jason Leigh; “Trading Mom” with Sissy Spacek and most recently, “The Sasquatch Dumpling Gang” with Justin Long for Kevin Spacey’s Trigger Street Films. Mr. Passero’s first venture as a producer was the HBO premiere movie, “Power 98” with Eric Roberts, and last year he produced Dan Polier’s “Debating Robert Lee” featuring Beau Bridges. Together, the Passero’s have formed a production company, BLUNT Productions, in the hopes of producing the work of new screenwriters. They associate produced “Flypaper” for HBO with a then unknown Lucy Liu. The Passero’s also have a stage musical, “Kiki Baby” (music by Grant Sturiale, lyrics by Ellen Fitzhugh) with director/writer Lonny Price currently in development with Primary Stages in New York.
