| A terrible, violent event has
occurred. A troubled TV tabloid journalist seems to be at the center of
it. What exactly happened and how someone’s life could intersect with
such an event … is the story of THE LUCKY ONES.
Lorenzo is a live reporter for FAME-TV, a
schlocky cable channel that is barely one step higher on the food chain
than public access. He is a young man who thinks he has an all-access pass
to la dolce vita in contemporary New York City, and he has been
banking on it for years. His world revolves around C-level
celebrity-stalking, decadent parties, casual sex and quick-fix
spiritualism. He embodies a uniquely modern combination of brown rice and
cocaine. His conflicting feelings and self-loathing manifest in his
feeble attempt to raise the bar on his work by investigating the nature of
luck, chance and destiny.
But after one of his earlier tabloid
stories takes a dark and particularly sleazy turn, the duality of his
existence intensifies and he is drawn inexorably toward a greater
understanding and ultimately the redemption of his life. His research
leads him to a bizarre mystical ritual that unlocks both his strengths and
demons as his double life unravels in ways that he could never have
imagined.
THE LUCKY ONES is a rumination on the
conflicting values of a society and on the people who embody all of our
dreams … the lucky ones.
