In honor of Puccini’s 150th birthday, La Scala’s Il Trittico comes to stage and screen in a sumptuous production. Premiered in 1918, Puccini’s triptych of Il Tabbaro, Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi, was always intended to be performed as a set. In fact, the composer was known to be infuriated whenever the three works were separated. Directed by Luca Ronconi and conducted by Riccardo Chailly, this production features a fabulous international cast including Juan Pons (Il Tabbaro), Barbara Frittoli (Suor Angelica) and Leo Nucci (Gianni Schicchi). This opera is a visual feast.
