| Sex & Sushi is the debut
film from Writer/Director, Robert Lawton. A romantic comedy, but hardly
in the conventional Hollywood tradition, the film is an unusual blend of
piercing honesty and humor. Bobby (Robert Lawton)
is a rather unusual private investigator whose primary job is to expose
cheating husbands to their wives through any means necessary. Bobby
simultaneously struggles with being monogamous in his own life. He sorts
out his conflicted ideas through a series of biting conversations with Jay
(Jay Dedman), Jules (Julie Strope), and Keith (Lucas Papaelias – School of
Rock). While all the talk makes Bobby out to be a bit of a pig in regard
to the opposite sex, he slowly begins to re-examine his life when he
falls for a client, Rachel (Ashley Carin – The Devil’s Own).
Sex & Sushi is unflinching
in its examination of a person who is morally challenged yet sensitive,
uncommonly outspoken, yet endearing. It is also an honest and funny
examination of the difficulties associated with being satisfied in a
monogamous relationship. |
